The Grand Sierra Resort expressed deep sorrow over the shooting incident when contacted by the Reno Gazette Journal on Monday.
“We are heartbroken by the senseless violence that occurred in our parking area earlier today,” the resort stated. “Our thoughts are with the victims and everyone impacted by this tragic event.”
GSR confirmed it is fully cooperating with law enforcement and has referred all inquiries to the Sparks Police Department, which is leading the investigation.
“We are deeply thankful for the swift and brave response of our armed security team, whose immediate actions helped prevent further harm,” the Grand Sierra Resort said.
“We also extend our gratitude to the Reno Police Department for their prompt support and coordination, which played a critical role in neutralizing the threat and safeguarding lives.”
The resort remains fully operational and is providing support to guests and staff affected by the incident. GSR emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Sparks Police Department is taking lead on the officer involved shooting and active shooter investigations with the assistance of the Washoe County Sheriffs Office.
GSR employees and guests should use the Greg Street entrance and avoid the west side parking lot.
